Thanks to All The Volunteers!

In my last two journals I asked for volunteers to be interviewed for a dA research projects. Thank fully, because this community is so caring, giving, and wonderful, I received a lot of response, so much in fact that I had too many! Nigel (`photonig) and David (`davincipoppalag) will be interviewed for the project. I sincerely thank all of those who volunteered to work in the project. I am grateful to have such wonderful friends and watchers on here.


Save The House Boat

As of this journal, there is over $950 in the Save the House Boat Chipin Account. Here's the deal guys and gals, I am putting out a challenge to everyone who reads this. Copy and paste the text below into your journals and keep posting and telling friends. While the intense generosity so far is inspiring, we are going to do better. We are going to hit $1500 before Christmas Eve. So tell everyone you know, every little bit counts. Even if it's just a few dollars, Nigel is one of the sweetest guys around, and he more than anyone I know deserves a spectacular Christmas gift this year!

We all fall on hard times in our lives, no one is immune, it almost inevitable. Unfortunately, fate has decided this time to pick on one of the greatest guys I know. Many of you have probably heard of `photonig's troubles from his journal entry, but for those who haven't, please have a read. A few wonderful people on here have set up a Chipin Account called, "Save The Houseboat" for Nigel.

I believe it goes without saying that anyone who has had the pleasure to talk to Nig, read his journals, and view his art truly understands what a wonderful human being he is, and what a valuable member of this community he has become. He has not only been awarded daily deviations, but also senior member status as well because of his contributions. It is with great hope and promise that together the community can come together to help him out, especially at this time of year known for charity and caring.

Lynnewood Hall Series

I posted two photographs recently (seen at the break) which depict a gilded age mansion right here in Elkins Park, PA, USA called Lynnewood Hall. This mansion has been abandoned and neglected for a long time. Though it does have an owner, he seems to have no plans for renovation, historic site, or anything of the sort. His views on the future of the site seem misguided at best, and many fear the worst.



I will probably be posting a large number of shots, some artistic, some into the scraps as just for fun shots. Anyway, I will also be posting a journal about the history of the mansion and it's current state. If anyone lives in the area, or knows anyone in the area, please ask them to message me. Along with a friend of mine (maybe) we are trying to gain momentum to save the mansion in one way or another.

Help a Great Guy

Still Need One More Volunteer

Hey guys, `davincipoppalag has volunteered to help out my girlfriend for her research project, which makes him even more awesome that before, but I still need more more volunteer! She is doing a research paper for a class in grad school and has chosen to do it on myself and deviantArt. Cool right, I know. Sorry I don't have too many details, but here's the deal: she needs to interview a few people from the site, probably over dA Chat or Skype, whatever is more convenient. Interviews would probably only last 15 minutes or so, depending on who in depth and intense it gets. If you would like to help out (which I would really appreciate, and I would love you forever!) please just comment on this journal.

Yeah so here I am. We (Elena & I) are back in Boston once again, this time both as visitors staying with a wonderful and delightful friend of Elena's. Here to go to Salem for Halloween, got our costumes all ready. We're are going (after much deliberation) as Robin Hood and Maid Marian. Exciting I know, but I'm changing out of it (hopefully) into my full on cowboy gear (including spurs) to go to the bar and watch the Philies beat the bloody Yankees.

So I hope everyone has a happy and fun Halloween! We're off to go see some old friends, meet some new ones, and walk around in tights (yes I am wearing tights... pictures to follow). Thankfully after all of this, I think life will cool down for a moment, that is until it's time to do Christmas shopping, but that's a lot of fun so it's okay. I love Halloween, but this one has been a little hectic. I'm starting on next years costume next week, true story.

Alright so I updated this journal a little bit, not much added, just features and some shameless self-promotion, along with some permanent links and what not at the bottom. I really don't think I'm going to do the whole sidebar thing again, been doing that for far to long and I'm just kind of tired of big clumsy journals. I like this, simple and elegant, easy to read and easy to update.

So anyway, someone joined dA the other day, and I have kept it a secret. Say hello to Elena over at ~andiQ87. She is into photography and is learning to quilt, so I'll have to get her to post some actual art on here at some point, but anyway she' here so that's all kind's of fun (and a little weird considering the ongoing saga in my journal). So yeah, go say hi if you want to, and I know you want to!

Photography Updates

So I was getting pretty into driving up to the Delaware River Valley around New Hope and such taking some autumn shots, but a nor'easter kind of rolled in and spoiled all the fun. Good news is that it appears to be rolling out today, so hopefully tomorrow or some time soon I can get back up there and take a few more shots. Bloody weather, always taking down a good time!

Alright, so this is just a rough beginning for a new, clean and simple layout for my journal. This will be my first actually working with the new "gruze" system and with the new CSS journal entry system. Previously, I just reworked the journal to work with it, but I decided to it was worth it to make the slight adjustments so it is easier to add new journals, which will definitely improve frequency as well. It's a work in progress, definitely adding more stuff as I got along, just wanted to get the basics up.

So anyway, I'm working with spreading the word about my photographs it order to sell some prints and services. On that thought, if you are one Facebook and haven't friended me yet, please go ahead and do it. Also, if you are on Facebook, please become a fan of Adam Hedrick Photography. It would mean a lot to me, and it keeps word spreading which is always a good thing. I also have a Twitter account for the photography business, and a website that is currently under construction.
