Getting back to my roots with a re-edit of this photograph of Eastern State Penitentiary. I really prefer black and white photography in general and I love this edit. Used some of my newly learned Photoshop skills. This edit still needs some work, but I think it is good enough to post here for the moment. Hopefully I'll update it in the next few days.
The original plan at the penitentiary was to have a wagon-wheel-esque shape in which a single guard could see down every cell block. Unfortunately, the prison began to outgrow its original plan and new cell blocks and areas where added as the years progressed. A new central lookout was required and so the watchtower was built above the original center of the prison. In the photo you can see modified exterior cell block walls on either side (note the filled in arched opening that once lead to exercise yards) and the watchtower front and center.
